Ramblings

Things that occur to me as I work to get things done:

1. The Ravening Hordes were right - I trust too easily.

2. They were also right that I believe people will do their best when what is most likely is that people will do the least they can in order to squeak by.

3. Watching something wonderful get destroyed because of apathy hurts - almost to a physical level

4. I really really do not like hypocrites.

5. I am losing what little patience I had for people who take on responsibilities and do not fulfill them.

6. If I run into one more person who is "in touch" with the reasons they screw up but continues to repeat the same behavior with little or no remorse because "hey, at least I know why I do it" I may commit assault and battery. Who gives a damn if you know why you screw up if, instead of using that knowledge to correct the behaviour and improve your life, all you do is wave that as the banner for your failure.

7. Lots of people pick an easy target for their anger instead of looking to the correct target.

8. It is easier to attack someone else than it is to deal with either one's own screw ups or a spouse's screw ups.

9. Taking credit for someone else's effort is petty.

10. Letting someone else take the blame for one's screw ups and not vigorously correcting the erroneous perception is not only petty but is a form of lying to oneself.

11. Screwing up, letting others down, and causing serious problems for other people and then blowing it off with a minimal "my bad" is impolite, immature, uncaring and shows a real lack of taking any real responsibility for one's action

12. Personal responsibility is a lost value. Too many people decide that if it isn't fun or they don't really want to do it then there is no reason for them to put real effort into keeping their word.... which basically means their promises are worthless.

13. Kittens are fun

EAGLE or HAWK - your daemon may be some kind of
bird of prey. Yours is a strong spirit, and a
fierce sense of liberty. You cannot be
confined. You may be shrewdly observant, and
like to be aware of everything that goes on
around you. You will fight fiercely for the
things that are most important to you, and you
are definitely a force to be reckoned with.
Still, you are not vicious by nature and would
prefer to be left in peace. You probably value
your solitude very highly - not that you don't
enjoy company, but sometimes you just need to
be alone - otherwise you begin to feel caged in
and confined. You might want to take a drive on
your own, just to feel the road beneath you, or
to sit alone on your balcony, watching the
world go by.

I have come to a realization - one I should have recognized long ago and one I would have if I were not so stupid as to repeatedly believe the best about people no matter how many time they kick me in the teeth.

No one really gives a tinker's damn about anything or anyone except themselves. The only reason to interact with others is to figure out how best to use them for one's own best interests and then discard them when one is done.

While I can't quite make myself turn into that much of a heartless user of humanity I've decided to join the club to a small degree and stop giving a damn about anything and stop expecting anything except attempts to use me. If I don't care then at least being used won't hurt
