So, continuing the vet saga - at about 10:30AM Friday morning, Jack, the sweet little stray that showed up on the doorstep a few months ago, had what is basically a heart attack.
King Charles Cavalier Spaniels are prone to heart trouble due to unscrupulous breeders who are more interested in profit than the good of the breed. When Jack showed up we took him in for a check up - heart murmur (no surprise) Level 2 out of 6.
Today he is at level 5....
Short-term prognosis - guarded to poor
Long term prognosis - poor
He is home - keep quiet, take diuretic, keep warm. Monday he has an appointment for an eco-cardiogram. My guess is he has between a few weeks and a few months left, poor little bugger. But at least he will be here, with people who care and can snuggle every night with his "sister" Brownie.
Good thing we refinanced and paid the credit cards off - so far we've dropped $1000+ at the vet in the last 8 days, with about another $500 in diagnostics to go for Jack.
